    A History of Innovation
Channel Express is one of Europe's leading airlines. Operations began in 1978 with daily services to the Channel Islands using Handley Page Dart Herald Aircraft. The Herald fleet grew to a total of 11 during the 1980s with the award of night-time contracts for the British Post Office and major international express parcel companies, as well as the development of ad hoc charter operations.

In the early 90's Channel Express started replacing the Herald with Fokker F27-500 and -600 aircraft to meet Stage 3 night time noise restrictions, whilst offering payloads in excess of 6,000kgs and faster sector times.

In 1991 Channel Express was instrumental in placing the first Lockheed L188 Electras on the British Register and in achieving ICAO Stage 3 noise certification of the type, leading to its success on contract overnight parcel operations throughout Europe in the 15,000kgs payload sector.

In 1996 the Company took delivery of the first of its wide-bodied jets - an Airbus A300B4, which the company calls the "Eurofreighter." Channel Express pioneered the passenger-to-freighter conversion programme and remains a market leader in the operation of the type. Further A300B4 Eurofreighters have since been added to the fleet. Most recently the Company has introduced the Boeing 737-300, to supplement its mid-sized freighter fleet.
